Just curious on you opinions which is better a stick or auto. I ran a stick in my ford last year, but i switched to a chevy for next season. The stick worked great but everyone else was running autos. Is there a reason for that or no one wants to deal with the extra shifting? Thanks

Stick bc they are a lot easier to work on and you can't blow them up as easy as a auto.

The only extra shifting i really did was 1st to 2nd out of the corners off of a restart. otherwise i just left it in 2nd. i like the stick better myself but i was just curious because everyone else runs autos and since it will cost about the same for either one i wanted someone else's opinion.

run a 3 speed auto with a manual valve body and it is the same as a manual except ya aint got a clutch. autos burn up to easy. go with the manual.

I have worn out a lot of bolts on glides and 350s. I have never(knock on wood) had a DNF because of a clutch problem. Unless you like a nice evening with tranny fluid from one end to the other run a manual. There have been leaps and bounds in gear selection recently, if you run a ford rear end.

Have always run a stick but this year were gonna try the powerglide. My reason for switching to the glide is to lighten up that part of the car. Seems like all the boys at my track are running the glides and i have read much about them in CT and SCR so we figured why not if i dont like it i can always go back to the stick. Eddie

I ran a manual the first season, and I always wished I had a third leg to keep it runnin' and keep from bashin' the car in front of me.

When we built my second car, we left the ol' stock TH350 Automatic in it to "try it for a little while," and it's lasted 2 seasons, it's less hassle to drive, loads on the trailer like a breeze, and it just seems to suit my style -- I'm just crazy about the automatic, Got a PowerGlide sittin' in the shop waitin', but I'll run the TH350 'til it won't go anymore.
