At the tracks we run at we feel that in order to go from the top 10 in points to contending for the championship we need to alter our tire program...
Give me an idea on your typical tire buying frequency and how often you are changing out tires,,,Also do you tire grind or not
Thanks for the input

Darin,

We grind all the tires before hot laps regardless if they are new or used
So we run hot laps then and heat race then grind them before the main event.

As for change out of tires we always put on a new RR before hot laps and change out lr every 2 race weekend RF about every fourth and lf once or twice a season. The only other times we might change rear tires is to play with the stager

Thanks Coz.
I think we need to grind a lot and buy more RR than we are....With our little flat 1/4 milers we are really wearing on our right side sneakers and it seems to be really tough to get heat and balance into the LR...We might need a little more drastic setup under the slinger as well.

Darin,

You can promote heat in the lr by siping across the tire it will let the tire heat up faster and once it's up to temp it will keep the tire from over heating and glazing over.

For our standard sipping we use a standard tire grover (one that you plug in and is always hot) and cut the blade so you have two strait blades. For the dirt Hoosiers we make one pass across the tire at every other chain link or every fourth. Works pretty good try to keep it simple.

We sometimes play around to much with sipping and you can over sipe and cause problems.
