Question for the board; what is that newer light weight GM stearing box called? I understand its about 5 lbs lighter than a sag box, is that correct? What is its ratio, does it bolt up to the sag mount holes and last, what is it found on? Looking to lose weight, thanks for any info.

I would call it better to stay with the heavier box.
I ran the lighter box and had them break twice after minor wheel contact.
Once the box locked up the second time the box twisted the steering shaft.
I am sure there are lots of people running them with success, but I have yet to experience the same types of failures with the big box

605 boxes are junk, The weight of those boxes is not worth the strength, stay away from them boxes. Alot of times the splines on the pitman arm will twist with alittle wheel contact.

I think what your talking about is what the cup cars are using. Its a Delphi 600 series not a 605.I found someone in Texas that sold them awhile back but can't seem to find the web sight now.

sweet mfg. sells the 600 series box that you are talking about with an 8to1 ratio. That would mean no more steering quickner, but at 2200 apiece, i will stick with a 605 box and steering quickner

I found several suppliers for the 600 series. The most reasonable was from Flaming River in Ohio. 12.7 to 1 ratio for $489.Remy racing,Lee manufacturing,Concept One, also have them.CJR products out of NC provides alot of Nextel cup with custom versions but are $$$$$$.
