I just purchased an 03 performance Chassis. Has anyone ran this car, I bought it as a bare frame, so I have to put it together. I plan to run it as a 3 link as I will be in a b mod. I am sure I am on my own on this.
Have they changed anything since 03. Has anyone noticed something that they would or have changed.
Thanks

It might be the chassis Jimmy Owens used to build, I believe he called them Performance Chassis, now he builds Loose Gruff or something like that.

Yeah, the one Jimmy Owens built
Do they still build them. When I first looked at the car I thought it was a loose gruff, but I guess it is older than that.
I guess I am kind of in the dark with this car. Hopefully someone has one out there.
Thanks

I was told that Jimmy Owens no longer builds the Performance Chassis, but is still building the Loose Gruff chassis. I found this number for Jimmy's shop in Tenn., I don't know if it is the correct number, since I haven't called it, but 423-623-1439 is the number I have. He will probably be able to tell you want you need.

I will have to email you then as I will have questions, if you dont mind.
Is there any diff between a loose gruff and a pci.
If you would happen to have pictures of your car that would be a big help.
I need to build the interior from scratch, so an Idea of how it looks would be helpfull.
I dont have any clue as to what the upper control arms will look like and I need to know the shock mount placement on the lower for starters.
Thanks

not much different. better quality welding on the losse gruff. uses same suspension parts. i'll try to e mail some pics. the right upper arm uses a 8 inch rear tube and a 5 inch front with an angled ball joint holder. the left is 9 & 6. use nova lowers. shocks mount in front of control arms. on the bottom, weld a weld nut or a treaded tube on the lower control arm front half.

this sounds a lot like a lightning chassis that Don Adams builds, i believe Jimmy Owens was with him for a while....by the way what is the ride height measurement for Nova lowers on the front, and what idler and pitman arm are used...

5 1/2 and 6 for ride heights.
I was told metric for idler and steering arm, and I was also told to use a 68 chevelle steering arms/idler, to help with the angle to the spindles. I have both, but the center link doesnt seem to work, and it is off a 86 camaro rs.

Metric center huh, My one and only setup sheet says 86 camaro, do you use the metric arms then too?
I need to know if this car uses headers off of another style car, looks like Pierce style might work?

measure where the frame is widest, where the front body mount is.

shoenfeld 1176 right side is high (i use this one) also 1172 is the same but has a low mounted right. also have a set of 172t which is a shorter header. there are other tube sizes in the catalog around these same numbers. also this is for standard chevy. the have other options such as spread port.
