Is this a stock block or aftermarket. Stock block is on borrowed time anyway but....
Depends on how hard you want to turn it. If you keep the rpm low and use the torque then build a 406. If you want to turn it a little harder and put lots of gear to it build a 377. Or go right between and build a 3.625 stroke 393. On gas youll lose some torque over alky so might want the longer strokes or plan on more gear.

I ran/run a 355/358 no more, no less and always could/can run with the UMP guy's. The most I ever turn my motor's are 7,000. But if you got it to spend...why not. I have a 383 that I only run for big shows depending on the track size. If the track stay's tacky I could see needing lots of mo-mo but a dry slick track lots of power is NOT your friend.

i wouldn't run a 393 the only good crank you can get in that stroke is a lunati for around $3200 if you want to go with something odd do a 380 scat makes a nice 4340 9/16 ultralight crank for 1000, i have seen these motors with a roller cam turn almost 9000 rpm all day long we have built a few of them for certain USMTS drivers and they have won many races. they are very easy to hook up to the track, if your track gets dry that is the motor for you

I love my 393--eagle crank and rods and have about 60 shows on it at 7500-8000 rpm---had 4000 in the whole short block--well worth it
