was wondering why pierce cars are not as dominate in the USMTS series but are so dominate in UMP. i was thinking maybe it was the rules and maybe tires. but a chasis that wins as much as they do u think that they would be fast in usmts as well. just curious.

I don't know so I'm asking. Who's driving the pierce cars in USMTS?

i dont know either, but u would think that since they dominate UMP that they would be 1st choice for USMTS teams.

Chad Kinder is pretty fast in his Pierce when he runs with the USMTS.

There have been a few who have won in USMTS, Kelly Shryock ran one for awhile after he left Harris and still won with a Pierce. But that guy could win with a lawnmower too. I think it pretty much the tire deal and roll center issue. Just my 2 cents... They are a well built and hi-tech racecars and are really fast on Hoosiers for sure...

Chad kinder only went to two usmts races clean sweeped one of them and was leading in the other and blew a tire or something in the other. ON IMCA TIRES
Dan Bohr won at Oskaloosa and one other race ON IMCA TIRES
Bob Pierce got fast time at Batesville and ran allright against the best of the best after not being in a car for 3 years!!ON IMCA TIRES
dan Hampstra won at Speedweeks in Florida early in the year ON IMCA TIRES
The reason is because there are only a few regular drivers in the USMTS series. and the most of the fast cars are from a builder that races the series
Skyrocket
Kraft
big c o c k
Hughes
I would kind of like to know the roll center problem my self!!

you can put the rollcenter where ever you want, If you put it in the wrong place on any car it would be an issue!!!

Wrong word (Issue) Just the placement of it compared to most IMCA type chassis but yes it could be moved, A hoosier tire is a taller tire and usually benefits by having the roll center in a little different location the a smaller g60 tire with less side wall, From what i understand the Pierce cars where designed around the Hoosier tire thats all.
bp22m1... From what i have seen they use the g60's but can groove and sipe them anyway they want.. Sorry For the Confusion anyone.

The problem we have with the USMTS is more motor than setup. Alum heads, rollers, ect. Most IMCA Pierce guys don't have both motor combinations. We won this year on g-60's, but our setup is different than on the Hoosiers. Not much different, but some. When the local tracks let us move up I thinnk some things will be different. gl ltr

The top mod at our track was pierce on imca tires . When the usmts guys came to town he ran with them . I will say the usmts guys seem to be faster but they also race at so many different tracks that they are well adapted to any track set up.And their motors are killer, money is no problem for them .

lots or people say USMTS guys run huge motors and cheat. Well some might, but most run a big motor and just plain outsetup and outdrive other guys. The usmts guys run what 3-4 times a week probably at different places with usmts and some not. They learn how to tune the cars and how to drive them great and adjust the driving style for track.
Now as far as motor, yes vs true imca motor they are much more, but alot of the local guys here claim usmts run too much motor, these guys are running 430's with over 700 hp. come on, your not getting out motored with that much motor behind you. A local runs great with usmts dustin boney, he has good stuff but not the best even at the local track, just learned alot about setups and drives alot to get seat time.

I agree with zeroracing. Those guys are masters at what they do,They got great equipment,But most of those guys could prolly strap into any mod in the pits thats competitive, adjust thier driving for that car and run good,to me its amazing.I drove my wifes stocker, and took me a good 10 laps to get the feel of it again,Those guys prolly do it in just a few laps,Difference being the 1st few laps I was kinda shakey,They would prolly be fast, but after a few laps they would be REALLY fast!

I agree except for the motor thing , yes they may have a lot of motor witch may help them in the heat races . but come feature time when the track slicks off . you could win with a four banger . you still have to drive the car and you can't do that if you plant the throttle and blow the tires off the car . as far as the pierce car thing
I think its just not that many of them in the series full time . pesonally I dont think there is much difference in any of the chassis it still comes down to the setup and the drivers abillity

there are motors over 700HP running USMTS right now and they have the cars so hooked up the cars can handle it!! they do not break the tires loose with all that power, just a reminder these guys do this for a LIVING! they better be better than the average joe racer

Speedy46 has it. Both him and I work on a USMTS driver's car now and then, and both driver's have some pretty big wins. USMTS isn't for someone who just wants to go have fun, it's for the guys that have "been there done that" and want to step up. They hook up all that power with chassis and driving skill. Both of our drivers could win at any time at a USMTS race, but this year mine was never in a car that worked what he liked, and Speedy's ran very well with a small motor at the start of the year. It's not all motor, these guys are just good.
