Got a question for anybody out there..We ran a small metric mod chassis this season, and had good results, but I was wondering if a steering box off a mid 80s IROC Camaro would be a better choice than the stock 82 Cutlass that we ran all year? Not talking about the 605 box, we were advised by our chassis builder not to use them because of being fragile. We are using a 1 and 1 half quicksteer also. Just wondering, I had a guy give me 4 of the IROC boxes, should I use them instead?
Thanks, ford5

i run the z box with no quickener. if you have pinto spindals you will steer very quick with the z box and quickener. use the z box and sell the quickener.

the iroc box is 12.7:1 ratio with a 1.5:1 quickener you will have a 8.46 ratio I like this setup on big tracks and run a 2:1 on short tracks with that box

Hey ford5, if you don't want those Z boxes, just send to me LOL!! I run a metric chassis with pinto spindles. I have a 1.5 quickener and the stock metric steering box. It steers ok, but I'd like it to be quicker. Try the Z box and let me know how you like it.

Have you ever noticed that some guys are always hitting things and involved in wrecks almost every week?Sometimes they blame it on other things, but alot of times it is too slow of steering.I run a Iroc box and a 2-1 quickener with Pinto spindles and have not driven into a wreck forever. It responds so fast that I have missed several wrecks since I started running this set-up.It is less than one turn lock to lock.

Avenger, that sounds like what I need. One turn lock to lock. I NORMALLY don't have much problem avoiding wrecks, but the way I sit in my car the steering wheel is higher than I like so its a pain to turn the wheel a full round. Hard to explain, but I will go get me a 2:1 and a Z box! Thanks!!

Be careful, you have to be pretty smooth until you get used to it.Some guys that wreck every week or run into things every week, might be even worse with that quick of steering, you know "they are not too smooth" or they tend to "drive over their head".
