Was wanting to paint my helmet. What would kind of paint would be best and what prep should I do before hand? Im not a professional, just tired of my white helmet and cant afford to have it professionally done.

Have painted many helmets over the years;any automotive paint, lacquer, enamel, acrylic enamel,or the current base coat clear coat finishes will work. Some are easier to work with than others. You need to take off any removable trim or accessories and clean it well with soap&water then wet sand it with 400 grit sandpaper to evenly smooth and scuff the entire surface.Mask and paint!Good Luck

We have a vinyl sticker cutter. I was told that I could use the stickers as stencil and that they would peel off with out pulling the paint with it. Will this work? He said that I should use a good primer and that it should work. Not much into freehanding!!! Thought the stickers would be a good way to get some design. Said to paint whole helmet one color then put stickers on then paint final color, pull stickers off and bottom color will shining through, then clear coat then polish. Sounds easy...LOL.

Yes they actually make masking vinyl, you lay out your design on the vinyl, spray one or more colors on the helmet, apply the vinyl designs, paint your top color, peel off your designs and apply clearcoat.Have Fun.

I am really wondering what color paint or vinyl makes the car go faster?

color all depends on track conditions and driver prevence.

also you have to consider that lighter shades of color usually require more coats therefore increasing weight. And with more coats the paint is thicker and makes the helmet bigger therefore increasing the drag coefficent. So I'd paint it black, one coat should do it and drill holes in your visor to lighten it up some to account for the paint.

LOL!!

I've found that chrome makes a car go faster. I can't explain it, but it does. I don't have any experience with it, but I've seen it work.

On a serious note, I painted my own helmet this year with plain old enamal and clear coat. It looks good exept for the fact that the flames I masked off are a little out of shape. I never have been much of an artist, but the $7 I spent on it were well worth it.
