I run a gas motor, the new motor runs a little warmer than the old one, but stil around the 190 mark
Anyways was looking around, and i like my cars to be different. So got to thinking, what if it took an electric water pump(like a csr or something that pumps almost 37 gal per min). then replace the fan with a electric one that is made for off road use so it will take the abuse.
Then hook up my lower crank pulley to just a alternator and a powersteering pump, or go with a rear mounted set of powersteering pump or a rear mounted alternator.
I have seen a few cars sheer off the fan and ruin a night, and radiator, and pulleys, and one took out the powersteering, also along time ago a guy that raced with dad got hit with one while he was tunning the car. He lived but almost got his head cut off.
Anyways what do you guys think???
Lay the rad back at more angle, take off the drag of the water pump, and fan. and just add an alternator.
also the fan would be on an on off switch or on a thermostat, that way i can warm up the motor faster(another problem right now is getting hte car up to temp, once under green holds180-190 but under caution and in the pits it is like 150.
I know of a mod that ran or may still run no fan at all in his car.

I know a guy that tried that same thing a few years ago and he gave up on it, and that was on alcohol. I would think on gas it would be really tough to make it work. In my opinion you might get by with the electric fan but I wouldnt chance the electric water pump. i dont think the gains are big enough to be an advantage.

If you have trouble getting or keeping it warm why dont you put in a thermostat. that will do it.

Instead of converting kenitic energy to do work like, pump water and power steering fluid, moving air across the rad., you would be converting that same energy to electricty and then back to mechanical. Why would you waste time making ine and converting it back?

A electric water pump can't build the same pressure as a mechanical pump without being so cumbersome as to defeat the purpose of saving energy.

I know a guy running in a lower class (stock bodies, no jacking bolts, small tires, etc.) with an electric fan on gas and is running near the front every week without any issues.

I'm not sure about the electric water pump...

io know arca cars go to the old fan and pump setup for the dirt races. think if there was something better out there they might have found it by now.
