Dumb question, I just put newer alky carb on and let it idle for little while goosed it couple of times and let it idle and goosed it couple of times look at temp gauge and it was 170 running time was about 20 min. i have 406 with demon no themostat because last time i took it out it got up to 220 with 180 deg thremostat. i am little gun shy because blew up first night out and just now able to get it back to the track. Am i just paranoid?

i would not have thought 170 to be a problem, certainly not after running for 20 minutes with almost no air flow. alcohol doesn't really start to work correctly until 180deg and 220 i would still not worry about.
i would be more concerned about the engine not being warmed up enough before racing.

Idleing won't tell you if your engine is too lean at racing conditions... was it a lean condition that cuased your engine to blow up the first time? Richen it up before you go out...then Check your plugs after hot laps

CRANKSHAFT BROKE IN 3 PIECES DON'T KNOW WHY FOR SURE. BUT THE MAN I TALKED TO SAID THAT IT WAS BECAUSE CARB WAS CAUSING HYDRAULICING?? SO GOT DIFFERENT CARB ALL TOGETHER.
