IMCA CURRENTLY ALLOWS THE USE OF A CRATE MOTOR IN THE SPORT MOD CLASS, BUT NOTHING AS OF YET IN THE A-MOD CLASS. SEEMS TO BE A GOOD DEAL FOR THE SPORT MODS,SINCE THE CLAIM IS NULL AND VOID FOR THE DRIVER USING A CRATE MOTOR. THEY CAN'T BE CLAIMED OR CLAIM ANOTHER.

Heard next year will be a engine swap rule, and the next year will be a spec\crate type motor.

The pavement modified rules has a track option for a crate engines this year. But it can't be mixed.. either everyone has a crate, or everyone is a claimer.

I like the rules the way they are. It lets me "tinker" a little more with the engine. although it would be nice to not have to worry about a claim. (like i make the claim area anyways, lol). One of the problems I see is that if we all run the same motor, the lighter car will be at the advantage. My car weighted 2660 after my heat with me in it. I would be at a disadvantage to the lighter cars. Next thing you know it will be like bracket racing were you get a handicap, lol. I would have to start 2 laps ahead of everyone, lmao!!!

I have almost a 15 year collection of racing parts and related items and spec engines and more spec parts would make me hang up the helmet. Racing as it is is costly more than ever has been with the cost of fuel lately not to mention the cost of parts going up and more spec parts or a spec engine would render what I have now useless costing me more.
