Just curious if anyone knows where i can read up on different suspensions for modifieds. The car I have now is the 4-bar Z- link set-up. I am just wanting to find some info (with pictures!) on the different set-ups so I can understand what all is said about each set-up. Thanks in advance and sorry for the newby question, I am trying to learn!!

Stevie Smith has some modified books, good for some basic info but not real realistic to what everyone is doing. But it will give you some general info. Also jimmyjudd.com has some 4 link info on his web site.I think speedway sells those Stevie Smith books.Hope it helps. You can pm me for some help as well.

the latest steve smith/joe garrison (grt) late model setup book is very good and compliments the earlier one well.
the jimmyjudd.com article is the same as the afco article, and is good for learning the basic principle.
what is very, very interesting on the jimmyjudd.com site is the tech article written by scott bloomquist about weight distribution.

Thanks for the information! I guess to a new guy it's tough to figure out the advantages and disadvantages of each one. I hear alot of talk about moving spring locations, is this done by welding spring perch to axle housing? Is it best to have the spring behind the axle? It makes sence as to why you would put it there but are there any down sides to putting it behind the axle?

Thanks again
