Looking for advice. Local class with strict rules. Mod style cars plain leaf suspension. 305 blocks 17in vac rule 3 speed trans 10in clutches. Pretty stock. Now you know the backround now her is the issue. All these cars are so close and many have several years experience. Yet the same car every week wins. No matter where he starts. when the race is over he's got like a 2-3 second lead. Now he's not cheating that we have found. We even pulled his heads last night to check his engine bore. so what are we missing? How is he this good?
any ideas on what to look for?

thanks to all.

His car sets the same as mine going in the corner we can drive in the same side by side we both stick I can even hear myself beat him back to the throttle and it's a 305 so i'm not spinning but he can still pull me from midway out and down the chute. I've been driving 11 years Him Not sure maybe the same or little longer but He's not just beating me he's beating guys who were running when I was a kid. I can give him credit he's a good driver but every single weekend. from worst to first in 16 laps he's passing 15 cars or so and pulling away.
thanks for any input guys.

If you are that close I am going to say he has a camshaft specially ground for the limited angine and the type of racing you are doing. Also I bet its a reworked but still legal carb he is using as well in combonation with a custom camshaft.

I think Custom has it right on both counts.
Check with Competion Products on a Howards Cam.
They have many grinds for that limeted motor,or can custom grind one for you.
1-800-233-0199 ask for Terry or Butch both good techs.

Having raced a number of limited engine classes I can say that there is more to be gained or lost in the engine thatn a typical Mod class. If he has found 15 or 20 hp more than the competition it's significant. If there is no set lift/duration rule on the cam there is all kinds of ways to mess around there. Also, there are a lot of tricks to making leaf springs work well. Don't assume your hooking up as well as him just because your both on leafs.
