I run a mid plate so what groove should the snap ring be in? I am thinking it is the groove closest to the engine

it depends on the thickness of the mid-plate. If I remember correctly, if the plate is 1/4" thick (which most are) the ring goes in the groove thats closest to the eng as you said. When you install the trans, you should be able to move the coupler in and out of the flange a little. I think the exact measurment is 1/16" or 1/8". Hope that helps!

Thanks that is what I thought, but I wanted to make sure before I tore something up.

I had to put mine in the middle groove with a 1/4" midplate. you want between 1/16" to 3/16" play. preferably 1/8"

Ditch the snap ring, and go buy the following part number at It's an aluminum clamp collar that makes adjustment much easier.

I don't use the snap ring but use a solid aluminum spacer in the end of the crank, simple and easy.
