i roached my 360 the other night and i am putting my 383 in for this weeks show.
the question i have is this......
the motor i had in was 360 cu. in. and 14 to 1 comp on alky and the c&s 750 alky carb was jetted 94 and 95.

my 383 is only 12 to 1 compression but larger cubes (obviously).........does anyone think i need to rejet to a higher number to compensate for the bigger cubic inch stroker.????

#94 & 95, is that a converted gas carb?

How did the 360 roast, overheat, or just a failure? Anything salvagable?

I think the jetting should be close. I know on our 365 on alky, were running a #96 & #100 jets, but its been hotter then seven kinds of he!! down here this summer.

we toasted it and had big holes in the pan.
i had a plug wire on number 4 lay accross the header and i suspect that caused detonation in that cylinder.

the detonation backed out a rod bolt and sent the cap south, the rest is history.

i need 1 valve, 1 block, 1 piston and 1 rod, plus a weld and clean on 1 crank journal and a new pan.

this was a roller motor and the cam and lifters all look really good, the bouncing around dinged a few rods and pistons slightly but its all cosmetic.

i am putting in my claimer motor, scat crank, solid lifters, 2 bolt block, kb pistons and wheeler rods, bowtie heads with 184 cc runners and 2.05 cvalves.
not the worst motor but its got about 10 nights on it too.

it should work out
