I am looking to buy new set of gears and wondering if there is that much of an advantage with a lightweight full spool verses a mini spool? Is the extra $150 worth it.

Most people I know go the lightweight full spool route.

I was told there is some machining required to a stock carrier to get a mini-spool to fit. This might affect the cost if you were having someone build a gear with your parts.

I have been running mini spools, but thought since I have to get a new set of gears, might as well go lightweight full spool if it is worth it.

some carriers may require machining for the mini-spool....I don't know. But I know mine just drops in and go.

full spool is stronger than a mini spool/stock carrier setup as well.
