If i want to loosen the car up on a 4-z would adding rear steer help or do i wanna take away? Or will this not help? Car is extremly fast in the heat(but it has to be driven real hard, which is no biggie). We run on 2 differnt half mile tracks and on the one track we run the car is perfect, it will drive anywhere we want but this is a high momemtum track. The track we have problems with has very tight corners, almost a stop and go race track, and the front end just washes out, when the track starts to dry it or is full blown black is when this happens. We run a 650 spring on the right front, maybe to soft?
Lr is clamped in front using a coil over
rr is on top of the housing
19" panhard bar mounted below the pinion.
225 lr
200 rr
650 rf
700 lf
62 lbs of bite
58% rear
Any suggestions?

JMO, rear oversteer will help the car turn the corner better, it allows the car to turn without breaking the traction of the tires. Forward traction is maintained with rear oversteer. I think this would help you.

with my 4-z on my dw8 ,i had to add 1/2" rr trail to get it to turn good.especially at tracks like oshkosh with big sweeping turns.

also tried to angle the top bar slightly down to the rear and that created roll steer on entry.

i also softened my rr to 180lb.

yeah, won 14 features last year between the two tracks and we cant get out of our own way this year in the middle of the corner at Shawano. This weekend i am trying the following....I have flip flopped the front springs to try and free it up getting into the corner, because that is where most of our problem is starting, I think we have diagnosed the problem wrong, I do believe we have to much sidebite right now. If i trail the rr 1/2 inch wouldnt that tighten me up even more on entry? I am also going to try taking some angle out of the z link to take some of the bite off the right rear. Car goes real good at Antigo, its just we have had some bad luck up there, we were leading by a half a straight last friday and the motor decided it didnt need four push rods in it..lol I know i could mess with the pan hard bar but i really dont wanna mess with that just yet. We have it mounted below the pinion and i will not put a J-Bar back on the car.
Will softening my rr spring take some side bite out also?
This darn 19" panhard bar has really thrown us for a loop, we used to run a short 10 inch one...lol

sorry, my bad....on our dw8 a heavier rr loosens us and a lighter one tightens us.
we have used static rear steer for 2 seasons now usually about 1/2" to 3/4" and it really helped entry a lot.
we moved the lr ahead say 1/4" and the rr back about the same so it wont effect the driveshaft.
will you be at oshkosh tonight or dont you ever get there,.?
i was told to add static rear steer until it feels like the car will spin oput mid corner then back off a touch, the other thing i found is that with the 4-z it really likes it best when your on the loud pedal.

we are working with a 4 link right now , just to check it out, i figure if it makes tim vandehei hook up on our track , it is worht a try. we just flipped the top rr bar and redid our angles a little.

Swapping the front springs will free the car up some. Decreasing the spring rate on the RR should loosen your entry as well. Trailing the RR will loosen the car. Itís like adding static rear-steer.

beaver dam has been ok, we ran there a few times this season, typical crash fest but ok track. as a driver ,i love the banking and the track but there are really some people there who could be a lot better at patience....if you know what i mean.??
i hate getting ran over instead of passed.!!!

tracy
take some left rear out of the car(35lbs), move the pullbar toward the right, and make sure your j-bar is in the hole across from the pinion centerline, and if it is, take some angle out of the panhard bar using the fram side. move the lower left bar up one hole and the lower right bar up a hole also, but if it was me id would maintain the rearend square in the car.

Oh yeah, we ended up wrecking a brake line so another victory slipped away from us, it was the left rear, but on the bright side we were able to get back out and reclaim our motor from a guy who claimed us last year. Would have rather of won though.
