I built the rear clip in my car and I got to wondering about some things from looking at photos on the net. How far down does everyones rearend housing go until it hits the underslung rail, in relation to the stock clip? Mine goes until it is about even with the stock clip, but in the photos I've seen, it looks like alot of cars rearend housings go completely underneath the stock frame rails.

on mine when i jack it up the right side will lay about a 16th of an inch off of the underslung w/ the shock all the way extended and on the left side its about 2/16th off of the underslund when jacked up. hope this helps.

When you also jack up the right side to simulate roll to the right the left rear will also drop further. The fulcrum point is the left rear shock fully extended. So if you keep or design your left side underslung inset towards the center the only thing that will really limit your drop on the left is your shock and not the rail.

Dman is right you cant just jack the car up. you have to let the LR hang and jack up the RR like the car is in roll to really see just how much drop you get. I would reccomend making it so that the bar stops it however it needs to be done because it can be hard on shocks to use them as the limiting device.

Just for refererence on the dirtworks cars with the bent underslung, at static ride height from the bottom of the rearend housing to the underslung bar is about 4 1/2-5".

My housing was hitting the underslung so hard on my three link, I finally just put a few gussetts in and cut the whole thing out. Adjusted a chain to get max travel. Best thing I ever did.

Sorry guys, I guess I wasn't clear on what I was asking. I am using the underslung to stop the rearend. My question is how far does the left side raise until it stops? I see picks of Shryock and others, and it looks like the stock clip in the car is higher than the center of the LR wheel when the car lifts and rolls. Mine barely makes it to even with the center of the rearend. I was wondering if I had my underslung rail too high and was limiting my lift or am I just seeing things? I can't judge by spring or shock locations, because I built those as well.

MINE DROPS ABOUT 4 INCHES BELOW ON THE DW-8, AFTER I RE CLIPPED THE REAR. MY KING PIN CAR DROPS ABOUT 6 INCHES BELOW THE FACTORY STUB.

The Left underslung bar of my car is 4 1/2 from the ground. my frame rail is 7".

our other car has no underslung bars at all so the back of the car can raise about 7" before the shock tops out
