Anybody familiar with the detent adjuster on top of the Falcon tranny and what it does?

it lets you ajust the shifting ...Ours had to be backed out 4 turns to make shift better

The detent screw changes the force it takes to change the gears in the tranny. We had to back our detent out 1.5 turns to get the thing to shift without bruising the palm of my hand to get it into Low. It is still probably set too tight, but it is possible for the tranny to jump out of gear under racing conditions if you get it too loose.

Thank-you gentlemen, my is a bear to shift, think I'll back it out SLIGHTLY, don't want that thing popping out of gear.

Yeah we have had no problems from the tranny untill this year, last race it popped out of gear a few times in the feature. anyways we will have to adjust ours in some and hope it helps. driving with the left hand and holding the shifter with the right gets to be a little hard to do in traffic.

If it is hard to get into drive turn your idle down. Talked to Charlie Castle and that was his advice. I tried it and what a difference.

24KC/Charlie Castle are right on. I turned my idle down to 900 and haven't had a problem this year getting it into hi. works great now.

Only thing about idling down is that its harder on the cam, because less oil gets splashed around.

It seems like there should be an easy fix for this whether its for the racer or something in the factory. Ihave head of allkinds of people having this same problem. We have a Brinn and have no problems at all. I would be interested in a Falcon for the weight savings if it werent for the popping out of gear thing.

I like the shifter on my Bert trans because it locks in when you shift it into high gear
