Does anyone know how much a metric and a mid 70s chevelle or monte front clip from the firewall forward weigh? Not counting the arms and steering is there really that much difference? Thanks.

I did about 2 hours reading today and out of all the posts I didnt find any that actually gave weights. Has anybody ever actually weighed them? Our rules state engine must be in stock location. Im trying to decide if the 4 inches of engine setback with a 76 monte will offset the extra weight of the front clip.

4" set back, you still gotta have the motor plate 72" away from the axle CL.

I seen a post that a small metric weighed 121 lbs, stripped bare, side rails all the way back to the rear suspension. So you could cut a few pounds off shorting the rails.

I should have mentioned that this was for a street stock. Our rules say 2 inches ahead or in stock location. Stock metric is about 4 inches ahead, and a 76 monte is about 1/2 inch behind the upper balljoint. I posted this here because the mod guys would probably know more about this than anyone.

USE A 70-72 MONTE FRONT CLIP,IT WEIGHS ABOUT THE SAME AS A CHEVELLE, AND STILL HAS A LOT OF STOCK SET BACK.
