When i shut the car off i hear a crackling noise from the intake?Pretty loud,I am guessing this is unburned fuel?(running alky)
Is this normal?

I've heard it both with gas and alky, never thought much about it, assumed it was normal, something to do with condensation in the intake. Never heard it on an injected engine.

Get your fuel by-pass on and it will most likely go away. The noise you hear is excess fuel leaking into the manifold and igniting on the hot base of the intake plenum. With the by-pass,fuel pressure will bleed off quickly through the by-pass relieving the pressure at the needle and seats in the carb.
I have also heard that ruptured (bad) power valves can cause flooding after the engine is shut off because the float bowls will drain down into the intake through the PV's.
