When welding on the upper shock mount's on the rear of the car (3 link rear suspension) to I need to put them so the shock is in the center of it's travel at ride height. Compressed the shock is 15 inches eye to eye and 23.5 extended. So should I divide the 8.5 inches of travel in half and add to the 15 inches compressed and weld my mount's on so the eye to eye length at ride height will be 19.25. or should it be different from right to left

you want the weld the shock mount on so that when the rearend drops the shock does not bottom out when the rearend catches the underslung...

Or top out. Look at both sides of the chassis as it goes thru the turn....the right side is in compression, the left in rebound. I would build it where 2/3 of the shock shaft is showing on the passenger side and 1/3 of the shock shaft is showing on the driver's side at ride height.
