what is the differance in a j bar (shor & long)and a pan hard bar ?do they do the same?thanks

Yes they do. Just different ways of mounting them usually.

I would like to toss my 2 cents in. Mounting the bar behind and on a mount off the rear will try and pull the lr back and force the rr forward unless you have just the right angle so it only drives the rear down. The J-bar or shorty bar mount off the front of the pinion....if mounted to the right side of pinion it will help pull the lr forward and releave the rr some allowing the bars to do there job. The other thing when mounting to the pinion it will some what add to the pullbar as it tries to push the pinion down when the car rolls the and the pinion is wanting to push up as far as the pullbar will allow. Just adding some more info
The J-bar is to help clear the yoke on the rearend when mounting to the right side.
