Now that IMCA has allowed the aftermarket bellhousing setup how many of you think IMCA should go back and allow rear mounted pumps?

To me i think they should, solely from a safety issue. There really is no performacne advantage to moving your pump to the back. On our car moving the KSE from front to back only moves like 3# from front to rear wheels. So weight is not an issue to me. But for safety you no longer have to worry about track debris throwing the belt of the front drive, or if a line breaks you dont have flammable liquids spraying on to the headers etc. For a new driver the cost isnt any different mounting it front or rear, for current drivers let them choose what they wanted. I guess I just dont see what the big deal is to why IMCA made everybody move them to the front?

I think the danger is inherent no matter if it's mounted on the front or rear. When on the rear, bellhousings do break, and transmissions do come out of the car from time to time. So you don't get away from the danger.

I don't think it should matter where you mount it. Put it where you think its best for you.

but at least behind the engine most of the liquid will blow back away from the motor not onto it, but i admit it will spray all over the place.

I agree you should be able to put it where you want, and I dont see IMCA reasoning for moving it to the front a couple years ago.
