Does anyone know if the internal stops in a Gm steering box can be readily changed to allow for more pitman arm travel? If so could you walk me thru the process? Ive got a good box, it just doesnt steer quite far enough to the right, any help greatly appreciated.

interesting article, seems you loose some range with the faster ratio box. My question is can you do some mods to get that range back.

Thanks for the reply.

We have changed the location of the steering arm to gain right turn range. You will loose a little left side turnning.

I thought you were supposed to turn the wheel to the left to go left. LMAO

Before you mess with the pitman arm, make sure your steering arms are square. I have seen guys crank one set of tie rods in, and the other out to set their toe making it impossible for the car to steer to one side fully.

Yeah, ive checked the left to right and the pitman and idler are square with equal length tie rods. I used to run pinto spindles, and with the short steering arm on them, it wasnt an issue. Switched to metric spindles on this chassis and I dont have near the steering angle with this car, even with the same box. I may just have to dive into an old box and see if I can figure out the internal stops and how to modify them. Im still open to input and appreciate eveyone who has responded.
