New engine--347 ford..just took it out for first run last night.. First run was great- car hooked up great and running great. came to pits. noticed a drip in #1 cyl exhaust. Pulled the bolt from exhaust and water poured out .. Silconed it and put back in and let set. Later took car back out and was running rough and no power.
have checked everthing--and found #4 cylinder seems to not be firing. Plug is firing outside of car but another racer pretty educated says he doesn;t think #4 cyl is firing as the exhaust pipe is not getting hot.
Can anyone give us tips on what to do or things to look for. Son is racing at Beatrice and really needs some tips.

sounds like the exhaust port cracked from too much porting, fords are known for thin castings. its common for a sb ford to leak water from the bolt hole due to factory machineing errors. you may have to replace the head.

also if you have a compression gauge then run a comp. test that will tell you alot about whats going on in there!

Thanks for the input all.. we found run the valves and found some very loose and some very tight. Adjusted and worked fine.
Then we were warming it up prior to our heat race and lost all oil pressure. It just wasn't meant to get to race this weekend..
