ok I am wanting to run an altenator. The only brackets that I have seen are for the passenger side high. unfortunately this is where the fuel pump mounts.

Are any of you running the altenator mounted low on either side ?
And if so where did you find the brackets ?

Thanks !!

I can't help you about the brackets, i would guess you may have to make them..

But i'm curious, why do you want to run an alternator? The draw on the battery isn't enough to need one, anyway on our car. Also if you do run one would you have to get a higher dollar one, to handle the rpm's that are being turned?
Like i said i'm just curious

ok....I am switching to gas and I am running an electric fan, so I need an altenator.
I am done with alky, tired of the corrosion, tired of the hassles. I am going to get an altenator and make the switch.

Run a top oil lube called Uplon and you won't have any corrosion problems. ( it isn't but it does smell a little like nitro)

thanks for all the info speedway has a low mount after all. I am gonna give a low mount a try, also it looks like the folks that make my belt drive pump make a low mount, so I could move it and run the alt. high as a last resort. Thanks !

pickel,
is this a dirt car? do you ever have problems with mud/rocks etc. knocking the belt off.
we have done this on pavement cars, and i want to do it on my mod, but have concerns with debris.
donnie,
any weld on pressed steel pulley will work, you just have to turn the center to fit the yoke.

Yes this is a dirt car, I haven't had any problems with the belt coming off or burning alt. up. I just welded a pulley up to the yoke and spun the rear end to make sure it was true. You just have to make sure th pulley is center on the yoke before you weld it up. I think AFCO may sell those. I know they sell those for the quick change but not sure about the 9in.
