How much should the yoke be in the tranny? I have never run 4-bar z-link before and i run a brinn tranny and i only have around 1.5" in the tranny.

You should have at least 2" of yoke travel . (face of seal to where the yoke starts to widen out ) .

Mod12, you are on to what can be a big problem with a 4L. If you don't get enough slip yoke to tail housing clearance, you can damage or break the tail housing. If you get too much clearance, the slip yoke will come out and do major damage as it spins, including possibly hitting your leg. Our solution is to use the 8" slip yoke with about 3 fingers of clearance from the tail housing to the yoke. Be sure to set your pinion angle before you take your measurements. Excess pinion angle can also be a big deal. We learned the hard way. Hope this helps.
