I don't have any idea what others pay. I paid 5K for complete used mod with 406 engine and spare parts. That was 2.5 years ago just to get me racing. The only thing I have left from that "cheap" deal are the heads and intake . . . car and everything else is gone and still racing mods with much better equipment.

I'd like to spend 65K over 10 years of racing!

I built my car from the ground up 2 years ago, it cost me $15,000. Of course thats no where near complete top-of-the-line.

As of right now, I've got about 80,000 invested in two cars (topnotch), lots of spares, to include a spare engine for each car, and my enclosed trailer, 26ft. Why so much, I spend money on very good engine parts, and it don't take long to wrap up lots of money in new tires and wheels. I've been at this since 1993 with my own stuff, of coarse that was street stock back in them days, and alot more fun. went mod racing in 1998 and my pockets haven't been the same since. Good luck this everybody. sleepy

Mod roller-$10,500

Trailer (used) $4,000
Generator (used)$500

Turn plates $150
Caster Camber guage $150
extra radiator $185
barrel of gas $245

If you think these prices are inflated sit down make a list and price the stuff. Don't
forget to add tax and or shipping. When your don start adding thing like oil, grease, filters vavle stems extra nuts and bolts just to get you started.
After you do all that go to the mirror and and the person you see if they have lost thier minds.

In 1979 a top nocth local late model cost 9-10,000 we ran for $250-300 to win now we have 4-5 times that invested and run for $400 to win makes sense to me or I wouldn't be doing it.

Super Dave I hope you read this and then try to tell me there is no way a promoter or IMCA can not change the rules and save me money and still have good racing. I build alot of the pieces myself (I own a lathe and milling machine). If you run 30 shows a year and win every one ($12,000) you did not cover expenses if you include wear and tear. I look at this as the same as owning a boat and going to the lake every weekend.

I expect the local sanitarium to be by and get me any minute.........

Built quite a few, bought a couple of used cars, getting a new storebought and finishing it myself to try and save me a buck or 5k.Send that padded paddy wagon over this way.

$40,000.00 for a car is rather much to win $300.00 a night, **** it is too much if you are racing for $1,000.00 a night. Back east a new troyer with a Brinn and Q/C rear is $16,000.00 and they race for $1,500.00 to win.
