has anyone experienced any problems with the stock type GM boxes. i have one that seems to "slip" when turning back to the right. it will have constant pressure and then all of a sudden it like jumps a little bit to the right. almost like it jumps a gear or something. it doesnt do it all the time nor when turning to the left.could it be a valve sticking or something. i have changed the pump and everything else i could think of.

Do you have a steering quickner? I had one loose a tooth and it did the same thing.

no quickener. i took it off trying to eliminate it as the possible source of the problem. are these boxes rebuildable? do they have some sort of valving or gearset that can be changed. as you can see i am not the most informed mechanic. i know the engine inside and out. its the acc. thats give me trouble.

I had a similar problem and found that one of my heim bearings was binding up, it had gotten turned against the shaft when I tighened the nut. make sure that nothing is binding in set up before you replace the expensive parts.

no damage to the front end at all.i checked all balljoints, heims , etc. everything looks fine. it is a 12 to 1 constant ratio unit. i think it came out of a z28 or something. is there anything in this unit that is meant to be rebuilt or do i have to go ahead and buy another? i hate buying new parts when it could be something like a small "spool" valve or something. or a bad gasket or something. ive been looking around for some info but havent had any luck yet.

I had a simular probem and I had to change the fitting on the pump to let more fluid to the gear box.

do you have the 605 box? We had a lot of problems with them on are Superstock. Whent back to the big box I believe it is a 800. Alot of mods like the 605 because it is about 2in shorter and weighs less but they are weak and don't take much .
