Chevelle, if you want to pay for the front end parts...
after that i'd go with the "Wide Metric" that the jet, kraft, specialty fab, fegers use. It's got about the second best geometry. The Standard Metric isn't bad, but takes a lot of work to get good geometry. The plus side to the Standard Metric is that parts are cheap for it. CUSTOMPERFORMANCE can tell you a little more on which stub is better

Have to agree with Extreme12x.

68-72 Chevelle - Pros: Front springs mounted closer to ball joints, different bottom A-frame angle, decent geometry and roll centers.

Cons: Hard to find good clips, parts are higher priced. Everyone is jumping back on the bandwagon, lol.

Big Metric - Pros: Strong clip, lots of them around. Also, with a little work the geometry, roll centers, and bump steer can be corrected to be really good.

Cons: A little heavier than the chevelle.

My choice, in order:

1. Big Metric 78-86 Impala
2. 68-72 Chevelle
3. 73-77 Chevelle
4. Crown Vic

13. Small Metric, lol

If you cant find good early chevelle frames my second choice would be the big metric.

Crown vic would be a very good stub as well, the 73-77 chevelle is harder for me to find than the 68-72 stubs.

What about the 64-68 chevelle clips? Are they the same as the 68-72 or are they different?

64 - 67 chevelle are similar to the 68-72 but are about 1" narrower share the most of suspension except the drag link and are even harder to find.
