I was looking for opinions on a good modified chassis when running a Ford motor with the extra front end weight?

The ones I have built that run Ford engines all run great. I am not sure it really matters what chassis you have as long as the setup of engine and chassis works together.

If you run a 347 Ford..you will be lighter on the front.

I do run a 347 but I use the R302 block which is quite a bit heavier than a stock block and it is still a little heavier than the chevys. I'm sure all cars could work good with a Ford but not many people around here run Fords and most of the chassis builders aren't that helpful or would rather have a person run a chevy.

I've seen a few ford's and mopar mods before and they all ran the chevy "metric" chassis. I know of one around my area that is VERY fast with a Ford engine and he runs a metric chassis.

get with a chassis builder that can fab up the mounts for it. Several will do that, after that it makes no difference.
i know dirtworks does I know Custom would do it for you and WT Harris would also, all of these will work no matter what powerplant is used, its a matter of finding someone that will do the mounts for you correctly so that you do have engine or clearance concerns.

We ran a Jet car with a 347....now have a Hoffman. Won a Championship in Bmod in 2003, bought Hoffman in August only raced 4 or 5 times and really liked it. Lonnie Hibner won the modified championship at Winston this yr with a 347 in a Hoffman, but won the US 36 championship last yr with a Jet. You pick....get it setup right and their all fast.

Call Towers & Harwood for motor mounts, they attach to your block then you drill holes to match your chevy mounts in car. (785) 537-4100

I bought a Nullinski that was running a Chevy. Pulled the Chevy called UB machine told them that I needed Ford mounts and they had them off the shelf. It was total drop in.

dont sound like there is one certain car that will work "better" with a ford engine. i've seen most kinds of car with a ford in them, and they were all fast.

I bought a chassis that had previously had a chevy in it and I put a 351W right in, had to drill 2 holes because 2 of the holes for the mid plate were off just a little. Just used the engine mounts you order from any race catalog and they fit nicely. I don't think the brand or type of chassis has any bearing as much as how heavy it was when built or how it is set up.

I have Dirt Dueler that was a house car that ran a Ford and the stub is a Ford.
I put a Chev and Les Duellman had me change the set-up and fr roll center when I switched. It took me a year to get it figured out but it was my own falt. We are
in the hunt now. Great support from Les and if he finds a new trick he calls you and lets you know. (507)458-5788
