i have run a 3 link rear and also now have a 4-z rear. i liked the 3 link on a tacky track but i think that over all i like the forword bite and side bite of the z-4 . the only change i plan on for next year is putting the spring on top of the axle on the rr and maybe clamping up the lr spring on the front of the axle.
here is my question ....with all the rearend setups available today and new ones being developed.........what is the very best over all in your opinions???
i mean i have seen, 3 link, z link,4-z,swingarm,and a cantilevered. as well as leaf, etc etc.

we were just talking about that the other day...we ran 4 bar 90% of the time with the z link rr some..the z made it feel different and carried the lf a bit but i'm missing some other adjustment to go with it cause i never did get it to where i felt it was faster(drifty in the middle).....you're right, there are so many suspensions you don't know what to go with...alot of the guys at our track (portsmouth, oh) are now running swing arm clamped and z'd and that's what i'm going to play with for next year, we've never ran it like that so we'll **** around half the year experimenting trying to get what we like..

how did it react with the z as opposed to when you ran the right side 4 linked.

what bar angles are you running when 4 linkled and when z linked
were there certain track conditions that made you use a z or 4 bar?
i like the 4-z but it seems to be a bit twitchy sometimes.

ours is dw8, ran top left fourth up, left lower top hole, right side with z link ran forward bar in middle hole and ran the z link parallel with the bottom....car always very very loose on entry, had to be careful not to spin..i went stiffer on rr 25# but still seems loose on entry and when i countersteered it would seem to pick up a throttle push in the center, very erratic sometimes- oscillated?? i think is the word..correct one way and then it would go the other way(push/loose or loose/push)..felt like the car was driving me....seemed for me to go better though on the tacky/heavy than on the slick..i know this opposite of what alot will say but that was my experience..we ran a 250 on lr and 200 on right..lr in rear and rr in front..

we run the same thing, a dw8 but i felt that mine was always tight and i had to gas it to loosen it up going in.
we run a 200lr with a 250rr on the swingarm.

we moved the back of the pullbar over to the right and that loosened it up some. what panhard bar you running.?
we ran a ton better when we went to a shorty bar (15" eye to eye) but it seemed we fought a tight car all season , the only thing we could do was throw it in hard and stand on it , then it was ok but i think on slick tracks i would have been loose as a goose.

short 3 link with a short panhard bar seems to be the ticket around here in cornfield county IOWA. as long as the track is fairly smooth.

i run a shorty panhard bar thats 15-1/2" eye to eye. what length is yours, i was considering going to my inner mount and running 12-1/2" eye to eye. i want the car to 3 wheel more. it just dont lift much at all.

WE ARE USING THE J-BAR DIRT WORKS SAIS TO USE BECAUSE OF THE ROUGH TRACKS. IT SEEMS THAT MOST GUYS AROUND HERE ARE MOUNTING TO THE LEFT OF THE PINION WITH THEIRS , NOWADAYS.IF MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT OURS WAS 11&1/2 CENTER TO CENTER. REACTS GREAT BUT TOO FAST ON A ROUGH TRACK!

has anyone used the cantilever rear suspension and what were the results?
i saw this on a dw9 at mike wedelstadts and never heard after he sold the car how it worked for the buyer. mike said it 3 wheeled too much.

On the harris cars alot of guys are running the 4 bar 2bar and they seem to be hauling a**. Jay Noteboom has won like 26 features and alot of others have won alot with this set up too. In my opinion they drive like a 2 link but hook like a 4 link. it is the best of both worlds.
