i am thinking about turning my 4-z rear setup into a 3 link but want to know if anyone has ever just locked the left cage and taken off the top bar, leaving the z link side alone.
i think i am going to put the right spring on top of the axle and dont know if i should put the left spring on the cage when locking the cage or put in on the axle, front or top or back.
anyone ever run this. i guess you would call it a 3-z ???
i am looking at doing this on my dw8 car

never heard of anybody around here doing it but that doesnt mean it wont work. I would put the spring in front on the LR either on the clamped birdcage or a seperate clamp bracket would be the same either way. Also if its nt a big deal i would take the birdcage off all together and put on a clamp bracket for the LR. I think it woudl be stronger and prob lighter as well.

we sort of did that. our car is a swingarm but hard to hookup like the 4bar and not enough room on the left side for a 4bar due to cage setback. we locked the lr down and left the spring on the swingarm in front of rearend and just took the back trailing arm off. works real good. we always move up in the feature and hold our own in heats but since im not a good qualifier we usually start back further. we also run a short straight bar instead of jbar which works real good but i think the j bar works better on the wet heavy track. right side is still swingarm. maybe that doesnt help but its sort of close.

sorry, forgot about that.
left rear 300 on the swingarm in front of rearend. right rear 275 on swingarm in front of rearend. left front 800, right front 850. metric frame, stock lowers and stock spindles. bilstein shocks, both rears 50/30. right front 30/50. left front a 4545. the rf and both rears are the rebuildable ones and the left front is the smaller yellow shock. car is basically the same as the swingarm set up just locked and remove that back left bar. probably could change a couple things though but it seems to be pretty close and we did do some front spring changing and got it better.
