here's the ticker i run a 5.14 at limaland which is a 1/4 mile banked track. still turn 7000-7200 at the end of the straights. not on a recall tach but actually looking at the tach without much spinning of the wheels?

Hey jason, I think thats you. you still on a tight budget and cann't buy a telatach? ya right look down at the tach, anyways I always run a 4.86 or a 4.71. A 4.56 has good straight away speed but will kill you off the corner. I'll be back for the whole 2005 season the national guard has got me in kosovo right now. Mike

yeah mike that's me and yes i do look at the tach once in awhile. so how you been doin? duckin' bullets? well take care of yourself and i hope to see you next year. by the way i used to run a 583 at lima and 471 at eldora in the stockcar but for some reason that is way to much gear in my mod? don't know why for sure but i was turning over 8000 at lima with a 543 that's when i broke 4 motors in 8 nights if you recall. im thinking something in the 433 range or close to that? don't know for sure. thanks in advance. jl

Depending upon motor 471 or 486 is a good starting point. Last year track was black slick and many guys went to a 456. I tried a 500 and ran out of go juice 3/4 down the straight.

the thing is that's the gear i used to run in my 3100 stock car with less of a torquey motor. 1 ran a 471 at eldora and a 583 at lima. never had a problem with those gears but right now i have to run a 514 at lima if i run a 471 at the big e my bottom end will come apart at the flagstand around 8500 rpm?? it only makes sense that i should use less gear than i used to at the E than i used to run because i have to use much less gear at lima now?????????? thank you jl

Hey Jason, I've been busy duckin. Sounds like you have cam problems, what I mean is sounds like your cam comes on to fast. Heck I've ran 6.50 gear at lima in my stockcar 7400rpm,settled with a 6.20 though 7000rpm, got better straightaway speed. with my mod though,I run a 67 and turn about 78 to 8000,I know some is tire slipage.Ive tried a 43 but didn't get the launch off the corner. In my other car this year(2005) I will run a 43 because it will have a 434,but the red and white one will stay with the 67. Eldora: the track has to be gone in my oppinion to run a 4.30 gear but it might work for you, Side note Ruhlman runs a 4.86. He says he feathers the gas through the corner and the gear helps him launch off the corner better. Mike

One more thing, I don't know about you but my Mod tires are smaller in diameter then the stockcar tires 84 to 85 1/2 VS 89 to 91 Just a thought. Mike

last year we ran there for the first time, with a leaf spring car. turned around 7000 max, with a 4.56 gear. hopefully this year we do a little better, understanding the suspension and how to tighten the car better now, so will have to wait and see. gearing there seems to be mostly driver preference, motor and suspension.
buddy of mine ran there for the 4 crown and he had a 5.14 gear (Pierce car)
hopefully i gave you something to think about

yeah dirt mod, our driver said it was a real smooth and comfortable. he said the harder u drive it the better the car handles. we had the first pierce car in new york and now im going to college at northwestern, who run limaland, so i just wanna see other pierce cars run.
