I WAS WONDERING HOW YOU FOLKS DETERMINE THE AGE OF A RACECAR? IT WAS NEW IN '98, AND HAS BEEN RACED 2-3 NIGHTS A WEEK FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS.

is it bent? whats the price? i know of a 97 with 3 new stubs and had to have a new halo in it, and the rf is still bent on it, an older racer drives it and wins alot. He has 7 total mods, 1 is brand new, but loves that older car and runs it most every race.
some people may shy from an old car, but they still work the same as a new one, as long as no major damage on it.

Pretty much, if your A-arm mounts, ball joint locations, and trailing arm mounts are all in the right place, the car should still be drivable.

PRICE? DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH STUFF YOU WANT.
STILL A TOP TEN AND EVEN A TOP THREE CAR, DEPENDING ON THE TRACK. EVERYTHING STILL LINES UP. WAS RESTUBBED 2 YEARS AGO, AND GOT FASTER THAN BEFORE. HAVING A ROUGH TIME IRONING OUT THE 4-Z, AND WE HAVE A NEW IMCA CAR READY TO PUT TOGETHER. THE DW8 IS IMCA LEGAL ALSO. THE OLD ROOF HAS SEVERAL WIN STICKERS ON IT FROM PREVIOUS YEARS.

i thought you were buying it, i was just saying if the price is not out there then it would be worth the money. i am not really looking to buy any cars right now. unless they are brand new and custom built for me.

I think Racing Age is what you mean, Most people go by how many nights are on a chassis.
I race about 15-20 shows in my year, VS others who race 60-90 shows in their year, So my car 3 year old car could have less races then someones "half season" car

i agree that no matter what age chassis alot depends on how much its raced. we like another post only race 15-20 races per yr. we have a 01 grt that has now 53 nights on the car. several of those nights weve broke something in a heat or semi etc and not finished the night or not made features. we need to update equipment this year or sell the car but there isnt anything wrong with the frame and we put on new parts and pieces as needed anyhow. i think its going to be much cheaper to repaint the chassis, put a new rearend under it and all the parts as well as front end parts and i can still get away with only spending 2000-2500 compared to selling the car for 5000 rolling then spending another 5-6 for a new roller of some kind. other side of coin is that the technology is a bit better now on new cars and having everything new does speak in volume but again sometimes it doesnt matter. we have a guy around here in central ill with a 4 or 5 yr old dirtworks thats raced it for two yrs now 2 or 3 nights a week, won features and is always right up there and the person he bought it from raced it alot too.
