I need info on how to build a "plug" on my Harris to shorten my LR lower bar. I run a 20 1/2" bar now and I want to shorten my LR to somewhere between 12" and 16". I have never seen a "plug" so I have no idea what to do and I don't want to build something that is not strong enough and rips out of there. I also don't want it to look like some comgloberation? Please help as I need to get this done as soon as possible. Thanks

I can only tell you what I did. I used a piece of 2x2 with holes placed on both side so you can slide the 2x2 into the bracket on the chassis and install two bolt. (cap the ends) *Hole locations are same as bracket. I then ran another 2x2 perpendicual to the 2x2 piece in the bracket out tword the rear end. I then welded two standard chassis bracket pieces to that 2x2 coming out. Just keep in mind the length you will need as a end result when cutting lengths. Probably over kill but I then welded two gussets on the welded up perpendicual 2x2 pieces. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. So lets see if I have this right. Do you come out with just one piece of 2X2 from the one that is bolted to the existing brackets so it looks like a T. Then weld the new brackets to the one piece of 2X2 and gusset it? Thanks for your time

[ I HAVE A HARRIS AND I DID NOT USE A PLUG I JUST PUT THE LEFT TRAILING ARM UP RIGHT BELOW THE BRAKE FLOATER BOLT HOLE WITH A CLAMP BRACKET, IT WORKED WELL FOR ME I HAD A 600LF 650RF 200LR IN FRONT OF AXLE AND 150RR ON TOP OF AXLE YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY THAT.

Photo of mine. I had Hoffman make it for me, so I won't tell you how to build one, but it should give you an idea.

I have a question, we run a 4 bar harris and would it work for this fellow to just order the chassis mount bracket or not? Our bottom four bar on the left rear is right around 15 inches long.

Mod 30 there $130 from Harris.I run one dont
like it,two things that are a problem.
1 Its set up for 5/8 heims
2 Its so tight you cant get the Heims in
it with out spreading the bracket.thus restricting movement of the heims.
Its a good idea a little more engineering
wouldnt hurt

R dirt I know exactly what they cost, but i dont know the guys financial situation or his fabricating skills so i suggested it as a possible option.you can use the 5/8 heim, all you need is a little piece of steering shaft to take up the slack, it fits right into where the bar mounts on the rear end enableling the 5/8 heim to work, i guess my major concern was that the angle may not be right beacuse of where the new bracket bolts on the chassis it is no where near where the 3 link bolts on.Also you can order bars with differnt size ends that accept the heim size of your choice.

dirtworks new plugs are TRICK! We've had problems breaking the welds on the old style, somewhat similar to mod70s, but the new style is lazer cut out of 1/8" steel and virtually impossible to break. Lighter also.

My existing lower mount is 7/8" wide, so I need a plug design to bolt to that.
