I measured our swing arms (afco) on our harris and center to center (mounting points) they are longer than the Harris set up book calls for. Almost 3/4 inch. Should these be cut and what is the avantage of doing this? also left rear is longer than right rear. Is this causing the car to steer towards the wall

sounds like you might have to square the rear in the car - if the rear is indeed off-square in relation to the front it can cause the car to go in one direction or the other. This forum had plenty of discussions on how to square up the chassis so I won't go into it here.

To see if your rear end is square, pull a tape off of your front ball joints in a straight line to the center of your rearend tubbing. Genneraly speaking it's best to start with the rearend square and adjust it slightly from there. (A 1/4" differance can make a big change) Having the LR behind the RR should tighten up the car, not drive it toward the wall.
