dw8, four bar both sides...seems lacking in side bite a little..went down one on the pinion (third down) bout three inches of rake...just wondering if the straight bar gives as good side bite as jbar and should i adjust it diffently for side bite than i would with the jbar..any thoughts, thanx

Should help give you more sidebite. You dont have to run very much angle in the short bar. I'd start with it about pinion level and 3" rake to the frame.

i looked at some cars this weekend and some of them had extreme angel in their short bar. I was told that putting more angle in the short bar will make it roll over harder and give you more side bite, which will in turn want to pull the left front. I changed from a long panhard bar to a short bar and put about 3 inches of rake, and noticed absolutely no difference, then it started raining. I am going to put about 6-7 inches of rake in it this week to see if that changes anything.

Im not saying it wont take more angle but its easy to go too far with the short bar. WE ran it earlier this year with about 6-7" rake in it and it rolled over so hard it made the car very hard to drive, and it was very erratic. Took angle out and made the car much more drivable. I think i would try lowering the whole thing if it were me before putting more angle in it.

when you are talking about a long and a short bar, how long and how short? I am putting together my first mod and am ready to put the panard bar on and am trying to figure out which way to go. My chassis is set up for it to be mounted behind the the rearend, so i am guessing a straight bar is appropriate.

Thanks

I am referring to long bar behind rearend across the car. Or short bar on left side of pinion in front of the rearend. Could be 12" or what i would call a medium bar around 16".
