Rebuilt a powerglide over the winter and put it in the car. Reverse and low gear work fine, but no high gear. I run a ball valve. I drove the car down the road and when I put it in high gear nothing happened, it didn't even try to go into high gear. Took the front pump out and cluch drum out and it air checked fine. All the clutches look fine also. Need to know what else to look at. Thanks

I am running a stock valve body. What should I look for on the high gear hub?

I had the exact same thing happen to me a month or so ago. I tried a different valve body, governor, different pumps and never found the problem. I ended up pulling all the guts out and put them in a differnt case and everything works great now. The downside is I still don't know what the problem was. I know how frustrating that problem is and I hope you figure it out. Good luck and let us know what you find.

two things to look at.need teflon rings on stator and block shift valve up in applied position. transmission will shift.

I am going to be checking line pressures. What kind of pressure should I have in low and in high.

darryl98, how do you block the shift valve up in the applied position.

Thanks for all the input so far.

use screwdriver to push the valve up and you will see about a 16th gap between valve and valvebody in one of the channels. take a E clip push it in with the screwdriver.it will be tight **** it will go.
