impala control arms will not fit the 64-72 chevelle frames used by harris and dirtworks. Only 64-72 chevelle and other similar a bodies car lower control arms will fit. impala lowers fit only the 73-77 chevelle frames.

customperformance, Awhile back I bought a set of bottom a's from a guy for spares for my DW-8. After I got a new balljoint & shock mount put on one of them, I noticed they took alot larger bushings. The guy I bought them from said that he watched a guy take them off of a 68 chevelle. They look the same as my original ones, except for the bushings. Have any idea what these things might actually be for? Thanks.

Would need to see a pic of them to be sure but I do know they used different bushing sizes thru the years.

After going through the same bushing deal, I was told the oval bushings were Canada style, round were U.S. made. Dont know if its true, but both styles would fit my Chevelle sub frame.

round bushings are used in a chevy, and the oval ones come from an oldsmobile. 68-72 cutlass has the oval bushings, while the chevelle and malibu's have all been round,so far.our d-w 8 had a chevy under it but now has an olds under it now.

Pre 68 a-frames were all oval on the GM mid size line.A-frames from 64 to 72 are all the same dimension and will work the difference is in the bushing shape only. The reason why it is confusing is that some of the cars in the wrecking yards have early a's on later frames because they will inter-change. I know because I am an old mechanic. New a-frames are now available for the Chevelles but they all have the oval bushings in them.
They are stamped out overseas. They look good but are like $110.00 each bare. That will probably come down a bit when more stores start carrying them. Then IMCA will step in and require only IMCA stamped replacements like they did with the Pinto/Mustang II spindle. Dman
