I searched archives didnt find an answer. I have a new Brinn trans, bought used brinn bellhousing and bought a new idler gear assembly. The starter engages teeth fine on the idler gear but the idler just rubs the flywheel it needs about an 1/8 of an inch more circumfrance. Could this new plate be defective? and not holding the gear close enough to the flywheel. It is a small flywheel 6..3/8 in size. Are there bigger flywheels? different idler assemblies? should I slot the plate? thanks

I bet you have a BERT Flywheel. They are smaller than the Brinn Flywheel by about a 1/8 to a 1/4. Had the same thing happen to us. They look the same until you put them next to each other.
