I'm trying to get the reverse idler shaft out of the case...I assume it comes out from the tailshaft side..does it press out?I see some sort of clip about 3/16" down in the bore but It doesn't move much..the tranny is a newer "z" with the dog gear for direct.. any help would be appreciated..

With the back plate off,and the side cover removed. Take a long thin punch and tape it out. There is probably some silicone sealer on it, and it will not just pop out. That clip that you see is a keeper to keep the shaft from spinning. It will come out with the shaft. The shaft goes out the back.
