Filled Bert w/ATF Type F ,Fired up motor and let run for a few min. and ATF was running down bell and front of tranny. First experience with a Bert. Bought it at a swap meet. Pulled it out and where the shifting pins are at the front was open. Is there supposed to be plugs in here? Or do i have a bigger problem? Thanx in advance.

Fill the holes with Ultra Copper Silicone. But be care full not to push it down the hole as to hit the shift rails. Let it cure over night. And you should be good to go. If after it has cured there should be none sticking out, take razor blade ond shave off. Hope this helps you out I have built a few of these tranys and have no problem

Thanks for the info. I made a couple plugs to lightly press in bores (.758 Dia. x .150 Long)And I will silicon plugs in. Do you think this is a good idea or just use the Silicone?

As long as the plugs do not stop the rails from moving you should be good.

as long as your on a bert subject , I have a question , is ok to leave the trans in 1st gear with the engine idleing ? Just seems better to do that than to keep jamming it into 1st every time you want to move forward a few feet , as in a staging lane ETC .

As long as you are sitting in the car, there is no problem. Glad to help any way I can. And I should have said this on my last post, use the silicone with the plugs.

I JUST HAD MY BERT OUT &TORN DOWN FOR RE-MACHINE WORK ON THE TAIL SHAFT, THE PLUG YOU NEED IS A 3/4 IN EXPANSION PLUG THAT CAN BE BOUGHT AT MOST PARTS STORES.JUST USE A LITTLE SCHMOO TO SEAL IT &LET IT SIT FOR 24 HOURS.
