jus' purchased a new msd #msd85551 distributor. It does not have springs in the top. How do you fix it where it is always @ full advance?

Turn it to where it's fully advance and tack weld it. You can either leave it in the nominal position or advance, just as long as it's welded.

You don't need to weld a MSD distributer. There should be instructions in the box about how to lock it up for full advance. If I remember right, you have to take it apart a little and move a bolt/pin on the advance mechanism.

better yet if its new and you still can see if you could return it and exchange it for the 85501?(i think. It has no advance mechanism in it from the factory and you dont have to worry about locking it yourself.
