Dart 400 block 13-1 compression. Never quite got the bugs worked out with the alky. Thinking of going back to gas. Pro's and Con's of this brainstorm would be greatly appreciated . The problems we had with the alky were too numerous to mention . Thanks again

We also went from alky to gas last season. Worked out just fine with us. Had the carb. rebuilt from alky to gas by Pro Systems and really haven't had a problem. Much easier to tinker with. Plus it smells better when ignited.

Funny, we are switching to gas this year and jsut the other day we mention how we should have stayed on alky. Trying to get the bigger radiator to fit, different pulleys and belts to keep it cool, waiting to get the carb back etc. We never had trouble with alky and was nice not to have to worry about overheating. But i think gas is prob a smoother power, you wont get the burst of torque like with alky (i hope), plus we will only burn off 30# instead of 100# during a race. Downside is gas will cost a little more in the end but not much.

If you are having trouble with alky setup and you want you can PM me and ill try to help out. Like I said we ran it for 5 years and never had trouble...... man im gonna miss that burning of the eyes and nostrils when she fires up.

Alcohol has one pro. It runs cooler. Plus I just love the smell and burn you get from it. If you can stay with it long enough, and get the bugs out, the only pro is that it is cooler. I have not found much more power from alcohol.

Since you burn roughly twice as much alky the fuel supply circuits in the carb is also bigger to keep you mixture right. You can change a alky carb to gas and vice versa but it would involve changing out metering blocks and jets, boosters, air bleeds, needle and seats, etc.
