ALLTELŪ PRESENTS MODIFIED'S FIRST $100,000 FIRST PRIZE!!
LOCUST GROVE AR. Mooney Starr, owner and promoter of the Batesville Speedway has long been known as one of the premier inovators and showmen of dirt track racing. Starr stunned the drivers in attendance of the 8th Annual TCI Automotive Mid-America Modified Championship announcing plans for a $100,000 to win race for Modifieds in 2004 sponsored by AlltelŪ. The result will be called The AlltelŪ 100, and will take place May 3-8, 2004.

DRIVERS:

The following will be the format for the $100,000 to win modified race to be held on May 3-8, 2004. This format is designed so you will have as many chances as possible to make the show. You may come every night or only come when it is best for you. Tuesday night is designed to reward the drivers that time in good. The top 4 times are guaranteed to be in the show. You may race every night to try and better your starting position. On Wednesday, we will pill draw and run 15 heats. The heat winners will automatically go to that nights "A" Feature. The second place car and the car with the most passing points will go to a nightly "B" feature. The top 15 out of the "B" will then go to the nightly "A". Then the top 7 out of the nightly "A" will go to the ALLTELŪ 100. The passing points program in each heat will help you out if you have a bad pill draw and run in the back of your heat. This format is designed to give you as many chances as possible to make this prestigious event, it will also give you a weeks vacation you will remember.

Saturday night, we will also have a states race for the fastest car from each state, that is not in the ALLTELŪ 100. This race will pay $1,000.00 to win. We will also have a manufacturers race for the fastest car from each chassis builder (that participates), which will also pay $1,000.00 to win. If you are entered in the ALLTELŪ 100 you will not be eligible for either of these races. This gives other competitors a chance to compete and win money. We are not sure what to expect on car count, so pre-enter so that you won't be left out. Only a limited number of entries will be accepted.

PRICES PER PLACE
1. $100,000 11. $ 1,875 21. $ 1,625
2. $20,000 12. $ 1,850 22. $ 1,600
3. $10,000 13. $ 1,825 23. $ 1,575
4. $ 5,000 14. $ 1,800 24. $ 1,550
5. $ 2,500 15. $ 1,775 25. $ 1,525

Mooney is pretty tight with a few of the NASCAR fellas so I bet we see a few of'em running. Should be a great show though.

"AC156", someone told me that Mooney is only letting 400 cars be at the show. That doesn't sound right ,but thats what they said. I am just making sure b/c I will be going there, and I need to know if I need to go ahead and pre-enter.

DWorks_05, you Heard right, they are only taking 400 entires. Talked to Kim last monday, she said they already had 96 pre-entries. We got ours in and look forward to the big race.

Jammin we are going with the FRC and the big motor. The way I look at it I am going to have to buy tires and set the car up anyway and I just built it for big shows anyway and I feel like West Plains is probably going to go to that tire as well. Mooney told me for sure Schrader would be there and probably Stewart as well. I would pay it just to turn the 20 in the wall..lol.

Nobody has said anything about it but I assume this a 100 lap race just by the name, Alltel 100. If so any fuel stops or tear off replacement stop or just run till you drop.

You can discard the notion that West Plains is going to Hoosiers. They are an IMCA sanctioned track and have no desire to become unsanctioned. If all of these tracks begin to sanction themselves, then they are going to start to re-write the rules. When that happens, you end up just like the stock classes. You are stuck running only one track or two at the most.

I usuually like Mooneys big races but I am passing on this one. I do not like the idea the cars that already made the show can run every nite and not risk loosing there original spot.
This change takes away form the format that has made the fall race so successfull, and gives everyone a better chance at the big race.

Then there is the looming threat of Hoosier tire, the tire with the WORST and most poorly constructed sidewall of all time.

No thanks see you at the fall race.
