I am just starting out and I am trying to build a fast (of course) 355. I need some ideas on legal and inexpensive way to build it. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly apprecited. Any other ideas on other engines would be great. Thanks for all the replys.

You will need good heads (race car that is). Dart Iron Eagles or other aftermarket heads are excellent to increase horsepower. More horsepower and torque can also be gotten from a capable cam (roller cam, high lift tappet cam, etc.). Finally, compression in your engine is important for power as well as type of fuel being burned. Beware! on many tracks, torque is more important that flat-out horsepower. Engines are a pain. . .

i would recomend at cheapest gm x rods with a decent stodk crank clevite bearings, and kieth black or speedpro pistons, and would not go overboard on the compresion, decent rings, and a good set of heads, the cam depends on your heads and track but dont over cam the car...it is very easy to do, and adjust the cam degreeing some before buying another new cam. i recomend pro topline racing heads. i love them. if you have more money then buy eagle i beam rods and forged pistions, and find the money to buy a good pan..i have had good luck with moroso pans and kevko pans(kevko ar not as high a decent one that works well is like 80-90 dollars.
