Abilene Speedway season opens with Ice Breaker,
first Day Motorsports Super Sunday Series event
ABILENE, Texas - Abilene Speedway gets the 2003 race season underway with the Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23 Ice Breaker.
Points races will be held both nights for the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified and Stock Car divisions, as well as the I.M.C.A.-sanctioned Sprint Cars and Hobby Stocks.
Sprints will race for $600 to win, with $500 paid to win the Modified main. Top check for the Stocks is $300 and the Hobbies chase a $250 prize.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and the draw closes at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The evening's race program gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 5 p.m. and the draw closes at 6 p.m., with a 7 p.m. race time. The Ice Breaker is presented by Smiley's Racing Products.
The opening event in the Day Motorsports Texas Super Sunday Series is scheduled Feb. 23 at Abilene and all four classes are on the card. Modifieds will race for $600 to win, the Stocks for $300.
Following a 10 a.m. worship service, pit gates open at 11 a.m., hot laps are at 11:30 a.m. and the draw ends at 12:30 p.m., with racing at 1 p.m.
The champion's share of the Modified point fund is $2,000, with the Stock Car champion taking home $1,000.
