In tire rules they talk about grooving etc and "siping" I have never heard a definition for this term. Anyone know?

Siping is a way to get heat into and out of the tire easier. It is basically cutting small razorlike cuts across the tread. It will also soften a tire up some what so that the rubber pads will give a little more on throttle. If you sipe a tire too much, depending on track conditions, you can pull the complete patches of rubber off the tire....seen this happen. Just another way to manipulate your tires. Hope this helps.
